The Dark Knight Rises Review

Let me first start this post by saying my thoughts and prayers go out to all that were killed or injured and the families at the late night screening of TDKR in Aurora Colorado, You have my deepest sympathies.

I am an avid Batman reader and fan of the character. He is my favorite character of all time, mostly because he a mere human with no superpowers and really is just like you or me except for the fact he has tons of money, a high intellect, and all sorts of really amazing gadgets. he has toned his body and trained himself to be a weapon, much like many of our Special Forces do in the military like Seal Team Six, but he is a fictional character. Now that I have stated why I like the character on to my review.

I loved Nolan's vision for the trilogy much like I did for the first two Tim Burton movies. Nolan took the character and made it his own like many artist and writers who have worked on the comic stories. He brought his vision and style to it. My only negative comment on the movie would be that it was three hours long. You run the risk of loosing an audience when the time frame goes to that level to build the plot and tell the story in my opinion. My wife who also saw the movie with me made that same assessment, and she is really not a fan of comic movies, but she enjoyed it. The story itself was intriguing and well thought out with some really surprising twist towards the end which I did not see coming. Normally I have already figured out the twist in a movie but Nolan was able to keep me guessing until he wanted it to be know.

As for all the characters and the actors who portrayed them each one brought something to the film. They were fantastic Even Christian Bales performance in this film surpassed his performance in the Dark Knight. Being a batman fan I had to make sure i did not let my previous knowledge of the character interfere with how I perceived the movie. The Catwoman played by Ann Hathaway did an amazing job in her portrayal and the quirky digs she often used were very amusing when they needed to be. My wife enjoyed her character very much as did I , her portrayal was very much in the way of the Batman 1960's version of Catwoman without the campy feeling of the 60's series, which I thought was refreshing.

As usual Michael Cain did an amazing job as Alfred. Morgan Fox was spot on for his character yet again. Also Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon did the character true justice. One of the New comers to the movie Blake played by Joseph G. Levitt did a wonderful job with his character. I wont give any spoilers in this review but his character is one of the twist I referred to earlier. so keep an eye on him!. Now on to the Villain of the movie Bane, who was played by Tom Hardy. For the vision that Nolan had Bane was spot on. While it differed from the original storyline, the way Nolan portrayed the character was excellent. Tom Hardy gave a very convincing performance of the character.

Keep your eyes peeled because another villain will be revealed and you wont see it coming, well at least I didn't.The Scarecrow played by Cillian Murphy makes an appearance in the movie as well. which I thought was befitting his role. The special effects in the movie were amazing and the gadgetry for Batman as always did not disappoint. I also  found it very revealing as to how Nolan somewhat imitated real life events that are and have been happening in our real world as well, there was a bit of the Occupy Wall-street movement in the film, which brought the fictional story into our world. Life imitating Art,...Art imitating Life.Without getting political at all I thought it was well done.

So on a scale from 1 star to 5 stars I would rate TDKR at a 5 star rating. I loved the vision Nolan had and I think it will add to the Dark Knight a wonderful piece of film history. So there is my review of the film. I hope you liked my review and found it informative. Until the next sighting of the Dark Knight I bid you all adieu! Same Bat station Same Bat Channel!
